Lost Foster Pet
What to do if Your Foster Pet is Missing.
We all know this is a foster parents WORST nightmare, but don't panic, we will get through this together.
It's important that you act quickly.
First, contact your Crew Member Coordinator by phone and/or text.
If you are unable to reach your Coordinator, call The Rescue Crew 24/7 Emergency Line and leave a message if necessary:
763-498-7585
Follow these steps.
After you've notified The Rescue Crew, these steps can help you locate your lost foster as quickly as possible:
Immediately post on the Lost Dogs Minnesota Facebook Page. To have your lost foster dog posted on this page, please complete the Lost Pet Report here at PetFBI.com.
Post on The Rescue Crew Fosters & Volunteers Page and Community Page.
Ask everyone: neighbors, children, mail carriers, passersby. Have a photo ready on your phone to share with everyone. Even if they haven't seen your pet, they are likely to be more than happy to keep an eye open for them.
Create a flyer with the foster pet’s photo, a brief description and your phone number.
Distribute the flyers and post them on telephone poles in the area where you lost your pet. If you can afford it, you might consider offering a reward.
Call the local shelter(s) in your area to report the missing foster pet.
Call area veterinary clinics and send them a photo of your pet. Ask each of them if any animal fitting your pet’s description has been brought in.
Once the pet is found, remove postings from social media (Facebook, Lost Dogs, and The Retrievers).
*NOTE: You will need a photo of the lost pet. Also, while only dogs can be posted to the Lost Dogs Minnesota page, you can and should still complete the Lost Pet Report for lost foster cat
