Our Foster-to-Adopt (FTA) program gives you the chance to welcome a dog or cat into your home and see if they’re the perfect fit before making the commitment to adopt. It’s a wonderful way to help an animal in need while giving your family time to make a thoughtful, loving decision

The FTA experience lets pets decompress, show their true personalities, and start building trust — helping ensure lasting, happy matches. It also gives you priority access to certain pets, so you won’t miss out on the type of companion you’ve been hoping for.

Who’s eligible for Foster-to-Adopt?

Foster-to-Adopt pets are often adult or senior animals, long-term shelter residents, or those who need a little extra help finding their match — like big dogs, black cats, or bully-breed mixes. This program also prioritizes pets who are currently waiting at our partner shelters, in urgent need of a foster home so we can bring them into our care and give them a real chance at a new beginning.

Your application will remain active for 12 months.

If the pet you’re interested in fostering to adopt is no longer available, there’s no need to resubmit — simply wait until another pet comes along to express your interest.

As a volunteer-run organization, processing may take up to one week — especially over weekends or holidays. Once reviewed, we’ll connect with you to answer questions and coordinate next steps.
